Pet Project

I would say that, at times I am a fairly impulsive person. There are times when ideas will grip every fiber of my being and refuse to let go until I have made that idea reality.

I like to call them 'Pet Projects'.

One of those moments happened the other day. My best friend out in Canny-derrr (Canada in silly-ish) is getting Married to her girlfriend about a year from now. That's right...I said HER girlfriend. I'll be honest and say it is a concept that I have had to do some real soul-searching to come to grips with. At the end of the day, what kind of a friend would I be to her if I could not support what is so obviously making her happy?

Since the outcome of that soul-searching (which had a happy ending readers!) I have been trying to figure out what I could do for them as a wedding gift. Buying something useful from a shop and gift-wrapping it doesn't really seem appropriate for this kind of event. Besides, my wife would be more than happy to tell you all how awful I am at picking domestic...anything! I have my talents, but decor, appliances and homely stuff is not one of them.

I was despairing, so utterly, completely and hopelessly lost was I in the dark forest of 'Giftania'.

But my salvation was to come from the most unlikely source...

It would come from the very girl I was trying to find the gift for!

She had a dream. One which she thought I could turn into a cool story. As she told me what happened in it, that little lightbulb hovering above my head flicked on. Ideas started churning in my head and inspiration struck me like a freight train!

With what might be one of my best stories yet forming in my mind, I realized just what I can do for my best friend's wedding present.

I can write her a story. Personalized to her and her soon-to-be bride, it'll be bound and possess a cover made from scratch.
